Janet L (Dickerson) Hairston

Janet L (Dickerson) Hairston
April 20, 1943 ~ April 25, 2019

Janet was born in Switchback, West Virginia to the late Ervin and Virginia Dickerson on April 20, 1943.

Janet attended the Public Schools in McDowell County. She was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. For 61 years she was married to the love of her life, Vernal Hairston. Together they had 5 children, Faye (Bernice), Vera Mae (Carol), Amanda (Monda), Vernal Jr. (Jr.), and Tonya.

Janet was employed at Edna Hennessey speciality lab in Lawton, OK for many years. She also owned her own janitorial service. Janet was so talented in a lot of different areas.

She was a woman full of beauty and life and she portrayed beauty in all of her God given talents and in everything that she touched. She was known even by her brothers and sisters as the bridge of the family. She was our mother. And oh boy her cooking. It was out of this world and it was seasoned with love. Everyone loved her cooking. She could literally make something out of nothing. She also loved gardening and decorating. She loved making things beautiful. Momma never met a stranger. She would give the clothes off her back for anyone in need. She loved life and most of all she loved her family and God. She was an amazing woman. No words can express how lovely and caring she was Just Beautiful. She loved her brothers and sisters. She helped raise her siblings and her siblings children along with being a wife and mother. She will forever be remembered and in our hearts.

We gather in love to celebrate the life and legacy of Janet Lamar Hairston. Janet was carried away on angels wings to meet the Lord and to be reunited with her father, mother, brothers and sisters on April 25, 2019.
