Jacqueline Gail Grundy, 83, of Caney, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in Bartlesville. Her sudden passing has left an ache in the hearts of those who loved her, but her life was filled with deep love, devotion, and countless moments that will be cherished forever.
Jacqueline “Jackie” was born on July 10, 1942, in Lavaca, Arkansas, the daughter of Jack William and Emma Gene (Tull) Balls. She was raised in Southeast Kansas alongside her two brothers. She later married H.V. Grundy, and together they made their home in Coffeyville, where they raised three daughters: Ruth, Gayle, and Nancy.
After her daughters were grown, Jacqueline began a rewarding career in employment staffing. Her life took her to Fort Smith, Arkansas, for nearly a decade, with work opportunities that even extended to Colorado, before she returned to Tulsa in 2000. In recent years, she resided at Guest Home Estates, where she cherished her independence and the friendships she formed with neighbors and caregivers.
Jacqueline found joy in life’s simple pleasures, working puzzles, reading, and especially playing cards. Countless happy memories were made around the card table with family and friends. She took great pride in her yard, never hesitating to keep everything neatly in place, and she loved antiquing.
Above all else, Jacqueline’s greatest joy was her family, particularly all her grandchildren, from the moment her grandchildren were born, she embraced her role as “Grams,” eagerly getting down on the floor to play games, lovingly caring for toddlers, offering unwavering support, and creating a sense of comfort and belonging that only a grandmother can give. That same gift of presence continued with her great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, whom she adored deeply. In recent years, she especially enjoyed holiday and birthday lunches, moments filled with laughter, stories, and love.
Jacqueline’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be remembered for her dedication to family, and the deep, lasting bonds she created across generations. She is dearly missed and forever loved. We love you, Mom.
She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Denise Lawrence, Gayle Ann Grundy, and Nancy (David) Westervelt; her brother, Steve (Julie) Balls; six grandchildren, Justin Holland, Danna Purdunn, Jesse Hall, Chad Hall, Cody Leck, and Samantha Ross; twelve great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kiah, Reese, Gary, Gage, Emma, Jaylon, DJ, JD, Everett, Simone, and Mackenzie; and three great-great-grandchildren, Wynona, Oliver, and Kai. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ken Bowyer.
