Mary Melvinnia Groomes, 37, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on February 28, 2026.
Mary was born on April 22, 1988, in Fort Stewart, Georgia, to Dieter Lynn Groomes and Rhonda Lee Smith. She grew into a compassionate and caring woman who dedicated much of her life to helping others. Mary worked as both a dietician and a phlebotomist at Bartlesville Health and Rehab, where she was known for her kindness, patience, and the genuine care she showed to the patients she served.
Mary had a thoughtful and creative spirit. She enjoyed journaling, listening to music, and spending time outdoors. She especially loved fishing and finding peace in nature. Her work in patient care reflected her nurturing heart, but the greatest joy and pride in her life were her children. Being their mother was her most treasured role, and they were truly the center of her world.
Mary was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Betty Groomes, Mary Townsend, and Dwight Townsend; her uncle, Rodney Sharpton; her aunt, Gina Groomes; her cousins, Dawn Groomes, Vanessa Groomes, Jonathan Buskirk, and Casey Vandorm; and her second cousin, Chloe Groomes.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved children, Jayla, Duke, Tyraya, Cody, and Tyrhiana; her father, Dieter “Doc” Groomes; her mother, Ronda Smith; and her second mother, Missy Groomes. She is also survived by her siblings, Levi, Anthony “Tony,” Amber, Dalana, Kelly, Christian, and JD; her aunts, Sharron and Tammy; her uncles, Wes, Mickey, and Steven; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will deeply miss her.
Mary had a way of bringing warmth and humor into everyday life. One of her favorite sayings, often shared with a smile, was “Better ask Duke & Jayla.” Those who knew her will remember her caring heart, her love for her family, and the way she always put others before herself.
An account will be established under the name Dieter to support Mary’s children at Arvest Bank.
Mary’s love, kindness, and devotion to her family will live on through the many lives she touched and through the beautiful legacy she leaves in her children.
