Dagny Lois Gniffke, 97, of the Falconhead community, Burneyville died Sunday, September 8, 2019, at Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta. She was born July 15, 1922, in Cottonwood, Minnesota to Anton and Margaret Hoftieg Kompelien.
Dagny graduated from Lakeview High School in Cottonwood. She married Aubner Edward Gniffke on April 5, 1942, in Cottonwood, and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1998. They moved from Cottonwood to Hayward, Minnesota with their young family. In 1979, after a long life of farming, they decided to retire and move to Falconhead. Dagny was an active church member who loved playing golf. Her last seven years were spent at Lake Country Nursing Center where she enjoyed life at every stage.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her son, Curtis Owen Gniffke of Moscow, Minnesota; three daughters, Marion Diane Leimbach of Marcel, Minnesota, Bonnie Marie Paczkowski of Minneapolis and Barbara Jeanne Selby of Ardmore; sister, Ramona Hanson; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her family appreciates the loving care she received at Lake Country Nursing Center.
Memorial services will be held at the St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Minneota, Minnesota at a later date.
