Betty Faye Kinison Glenn was born on a farm in Oklahoma on July 29, 1937. Her parents were Gerald Lyle Kinison and Bessie Merle Elliott Kinison.
She went to school and graduated from Osage High School in 1955. She enjoyed playing basketball and always had great secretarial skills. It was in high school that she met and fell in love with Hoyt "Buz" Glenn. They were married on November 24, 1955, at the Osage Baptist Church in Osage, Oklahoma and to this union, their daughters Kathy and Pamela were born. They moved from Oklahoma to Las Animas, Colorado in 1960 when Hoyt was hired to be the 8th grade science teacher. Betty was a homemaker and often would watch the children of other teachers. She loved sewing and made many of the most special clothes for her daughters. Prom dresses, Santa Fe Trail Day dresses and outfits for spring piano recitals. She also made tiny Barbie dolls clothes for her girls. As her daughters got older, Betty enjoyed working in the office at several schools, including Columbian Elementary and the Las Animas High School.
Leaving many friends and colleagues, in 1977, she moved back to Oklahoma and worked side by side with her husband running an independent oil business. During this time of Betty's life, she loved playing with her grandchildren. Stephanie, Laura, Christopher and Jason. They have many fond memories of Grandma Betty cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, home-made berry cobblers and her ever popular lasagna which was often requested for birthday celebrations.
Betty loved making quilts, decorating her home and bird watching. Camping in the Colorado Mountains was a highlight of her summers. Hoyt and Betty had been married for 68 years when he passed away on February 7, 2024, in Cleveland, Oklahoma at the age of 89. Betty was preceded in death by both her parents and her daughter Pamela Diane Glenn Patterson. Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathy Glenn Eichenberger; grandchildren, Stephanie Patterson Jones, Laura Patterson Ronck, Christopher Eichenberger, and Jason Eichenberger; Great-Grandchildren, Blakely, Emory, Holden Ronck, and Steven, Edward, and Faye Jones; and a host of other relatives.
Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date and will be announced by the Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Cleveland, OK.
