Services for Allie Rae Gessell, 85, of Las Cruces, New Mexico were held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 5 at First Baptist Church, Las Cruces with Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Las Cruces.
Born March 13, 1926 in Cooke County, Texas, the daughter of Robert and Myrtle Mullins, she died Saturday, July 30, 2011.
Mrs. Gessell worked at Civil Service at Ft. Bliss prior to her life in Las Cruces. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School classes until she was 84 years old. She enjoyed cooking big family dinners, but her passion and life’s purpose was for children and telling them about Jesus. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Gessell was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl Gessell of 29 years; her parents; three sisters and one brother.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Miller and wife, Shirley of Hendersonville, Tennessee and William Miller and wife, Wendy of Pauls Valley; one daughter, Sue Miller of Las Cruces; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
