Gladys Juanita "Peggy" (Pope) Gawley

February 5, 1928 ~ July 9, 2018

Gladys Juanita "Peggy" Gawley, age 90 and longtime resident of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away on July 9, 2018, in Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville.

Gladys Juanita Pope was born on February 5, 1928. She was known by the name of "Peggy". She was the daughter of Lawrence Pope and Effie (Stover) Pope. After graduating high school she furthered her education by attending Bartlesville Beauty College. She was self-employed as a hair dresser for most of her adult life.

Peggy married Thomas "Boone" Gawley and they lived in Nowata. Mr. Gawley preceded her in death in 1984. Peggy continued her residence in Nowata after his death.

She was a member of Memorial Christian Church, Bartlesville. She was a prolific portrait painter. She loved to travel and enjoyed casinos and meeting people.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and 15 brothers and sisters, Jean Buzzard, Betty Ingram, Jack Pope, Jenny Ford, Charles Keith, Bill Pope, Bob Pope, Tom Pope Loren Pope, Clara, Joyce, Sharon, Karen, Debbie and Kathy.

Peggy is survived by her sister, Carol Kinnikin of Peru, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service for Mrs. Gawley will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 1:00 PM in Memorial Christian Church, 1201 N. Virginia Ave., Bartlesville. Rev. Dan Snider will be the officiant.

Services are under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
