David R. Garrison
May 16, 1937 - September 10, 2016

David R. Garrison, 79, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016. He was born May 16, 1937 in Cushing, Oklahoma.

He was a longtime resident of Ponca City where he served as an Assistant City Attorney and active practicing lawyer. He was admitted to the State Bar of Oklahoma in 1967 after graduating with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma. He honorably served the profession and the community since that time as a Lifetime Member of the OU College of Law Association, the Kay County Bar Association, and as a Lifetime Member of Pampa Mason Lodge #966. He earned his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in 1965, with Delta Theta Phi honors and as a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

David married Glenda Marie Burns on July 11, 1962: a 54 year marriage that produced two sons David T. Garrison and Darin T. Garrison.

David is survived by his loving wife Glenda and devoted son Darin. He was "Papa" to his three adoring grandchildren, Grace (12), Riley (11), and Grant (9), and "Big Dave" to his two admiring daughters-in-law, Tanya and Tammie.

The family will hold a special Celebration of Life at the First United Methodist Church of Ponca City, 200 S. 6th St., Ponca City, Oklahoma, 74601 at 2:00PM on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church – his home church for over 48 years.
