Ralph Wendell Gard
July 22, 1943 ~ June 15, 2016

A funeral service for Wendell Gard, age 72, of Enid, will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Brad Mendenhall officiating.

Wendell was born to Ralph and Thelma Gard on July 22, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, and passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2016, at his home in Enid.

Wendell grew up in Peabody, Kansas, graduating from high school there. He then served in the U.S. Marines. After his service he attended college. Wendell worked for OG & E for over thirty years. He was a ham radio operator known as GR27 with the Enid Sherriff Department. On October 11, 1996, Wendell married Sheryl Meister in Ringwood. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and enjoyed photography and music, especially guitar and banjo.

He is survived by his wife Sheryl; children: Michelle Devault and husband Wes of Skiatook , Joe Gard and wife Mary of League City, Texas, Beth Landry and husband Rudy of Des Moines, Iowa, Stephanie Maldonado and husband Jon of Lubbock, Texas, Jeff Williams of Goltry, Dallas Williams of Edmond, Deserae Moritz and husband Clint of Enid; eleven grandchildren; brothers Ed Rakestraw and wife Suzzett, and Jon Gard and wife Carolyn; sisters, Rosemary Elkins and husband Bill, Mary Steinert, Carol Schoenfeld and husband Larry, and Dorothy Hopkins.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Phylis.

Memorials may be made to World Harvest Church for Feed the Neighborhood.
