Anita Louise (Williams) Gable

Anita Louise (Williams) Gable
December 30, 1947 - December 9, 2021

Anita Louise Gable age 73 of Enid, OK passed away peacefully on Thursday December 9, 2021, surrounded by family in her home.

Anita was born in Ponca City, OK on December 30, 1947, to Carl and Nadine Williams. Anita attended Fountain and Lincoln schools. She graduated from Tonkawa High School in 1966. She was involved in Future Homemakers of America where she realized her biggest goal in life was to raise a family. She attended NOC Tonkawa before meeting the love of her life, Phillip Gable. They were married on August 10, 1968. Throughout their marriage, the couple engaged in numerous hobbies including traveling, gardening, and raising doves. They celebrated 45 years of marriage until Phillip’s death in 2013. They lived in Oklahoma City and Stillwater where their first child, a son, Carl was born. They moved to Enid in 1972 where they raised their family. In 1975 they welcomed their first daughter, Holly. Three years later, they welcomed their final baby, a girl, Philita.

Anita wore many hats. Throughout her career, she worked at Rexall Drug store in Tonkawa and Braum’s in Stillwater and Enid. When her children were old enough to attend school, she ran the family sod farm- Gable’s Grass Farm for many years. Upon her husband’s retirement, she worked at Wal-Mart where she was a loyal employee for 10 years. She was a loyal friend. She cherished over forty years of friendship with her dear friend, Beth Smith.

Anita was passionate about children’s ministry. She was a Sunday school teacher and children’s church leader. She started teaching Sunday school as a young adult and taught for numerous years. Anita was eager to share her joy of the Lord with her children and grandchildren. Weekly, she and her husband were dedicated to transporting their grandchildren to church in their Oldsmobile packed full like a clown car. During her last days, Anita was asked what the one piece of advice is she would give to her family or even the world. Her response, “trust God more.”

Anita is survived by her children; her son, Carl Gable and wife Christy of Enid, OK; her daughter, Holly Wedel of Enid, OK; her daughter, Philita Daniel and husband Mark of Drummond, OK; her sisters, Rebecca and Eugene Burris of Tonkawa, OK; her sister, Gayla Odenwald of Tonkawa, OK; and her sister, Marilyn and husband John Ramey of Tonkawa, OK. She is proceeded in death by her husband Phillip, parents, and grandparents.
