Services for centenarian Dorothy V. Freshour, 100, of the Greenville Community will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta with Jerry Hampton officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville, Kansas is set for 10 a.m. Friday, January 6.

Mrs. Freshour was born in Buffalo, Oklahoma on July 2, 1916, the oldest of nine children born to Samuel and Elsie Mae Byers Hurley, she died Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta.

A resident of Love County since 1977, Dorothy attended grade school and high school in Bucklin, Kansas. She and Nova Alonza “Don” Freshour were married in Mullinville on October 17, 1932, and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1988. A homemaker, Dorothy loved to cook and host family reunions. She was well known for her delicious chocolate sheet cake. Her hobbies included sewing and quilting. Dorothy attended the Baptist Church in Greensburg, Kansas.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Kathryn Ann Woolery; great-granddaughter Gabrellia Margaret Leede; five brothers, Doyle, Donald, Lee, Robert, and Ivan Hurley; and two sisters, Opal Redding and Marietta Lininger.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne V. and Cynthia Freshour of Midland, Texas; two daughters and son-in-law, Norma Janice’ Woolery of the Greenville Community and Doris Ann Freshour-Wingert and husband Dean of Searcy, Arkansas; sister Arlene Wingert of Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Justin Woolery, Jeremy Hampton, Tim Hampton, Michael Morgan, David Leede, and Chris Woolery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday January 4 from 9 a.m. until service time.
