Roger James Freelander
August 5, 1949 - June 5, 2023

Rev. Roger James Freelander, 73, died June 5, 2023 in Oklahoma City. He was born August 25, 1949 in Minot, North Dakota to Arthur T. and Frances O. (Reum) Freelander. He graduated from Makoti High School in 1967, from North West Bible College in 1971, and from North American Baptist Seminary in 1974.

Roger pastored the New Leipzig Baptist in North Dakota for 13 years and the Immanuel Baptist Church in Loyal, OK for 32 years before retiring from the ministry. He also was the Cabinetmaker Instructor at Chisholm Trail Technology Center in Omega, OK until his death. He loved studying the Bible, preaching, and witnessing to those around him. He also loved carpentry and teaching students.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clyde; sister, June; and sister, Shirley. Survivors include his wife, Chichi of Loyal, OK; sons, Geoffrey of OKC and Nathan and wife Mindy of Piedmont; one grandson and three granddaughters; Lowell Freelander and wife Diane of Powder Springs, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Loyal, OK on Wednesday, June 21 at 10:00am.
