Willa Elizabeth "Sunny" Forrest

Willa Elizabeth "Sunny" Forrest
June 30, 1929 ~ February 2, 2021 (age 91)

Willa Elizabeth Forrest, 91, passed away on February 2, 2021, in Norman, Oklahoma. Although her birth name was Willa, she preferred to be called Sunny, a nickname she acquired in college. She was born and raised in Inglewood, California, and remained in California until moving to North Carolina in 1967, where she raised her two children, Mark Zareski and Tammy Souther. Sunny also lived in Dayton, Texas, with her husband of 26 years, David Bauerle until his passing in 2011. In order for Sunny to be closer to family, she moved to Norman, Oklahoma, in 2014, where she resided for the last seven years.

Sunny had an incredible green thumb and thoroughly enjoyed her houseplants and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling, dancing, quilting, bird watching and had a great love of animals, often donating to animal charities.

Sunny is survived by her daughter, Tammy Souther and her husband Gary of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Krystal Harper, April Meredith and Tricia Montroy; great grandchildren, Raven Gimenez, Jaden and Juliana Harper, Micheal Meredith, Erin Gilliam and Nicholas and James Finn; great-great grandchildren, Lily and Grayson; and brother-in-law, Bruce Bauerle and his wife Connie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Bauerle; son, Mark Zareski; and brother, J. Mac Smith and his wife Lucy.

Sunny lived a long, wonderful life and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
