Eric Gerard Fernandez

Eric Gerard Fernandez
January 3, 1975 ~ January 27, 2026

Eric Gerard Fernandez, age 51, of Durant, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Eric was born on January 3, 1975, in Brooklyn, New York. He was a loving son, husband, brother, nephew, uncle and loyal friend who never hesitated to help others. Known for his warm smile and steady presence, Eric made people feel at ease wherever he went.

He worked for The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma for the last 18 years and was currently in the IT department. He took great pride in his work but cherished the relationships he had with his coworkers and immediate teammates more than anything. Outside of work Eric enjoyed New York sports, specifically the Knicks, Giants, Rangers and Yankees. He could name every pennant year for the Yankees and had an avid dislike for the Boston Red Sox.

To know Eric was to love Eric. He loved big and had a special place in his heart for all his nieces and nephews and friends that became like family. Eric could make every occasion a special occasion and always made people feel “mi casa, es su casa”.

Eric is survived by his wife, Jennifer Fernandez; his father Gustavo Fernandez; his brothers Daryl Fernandez and wife Micheline, Joshua Fernandez and wife Jennifer, Dain Fernandez and fiancé Lindsey, Joel Fernandez and sister Thalia Fernandez; aunt Slena Santos and husband Ronald; godfather and uncle Gary Santos. He is also survived by sister-in-law Julie Earls and brother-in-law Kent Wuestenfeld and wife Shana, nieces and nephews Brianna Fernandez, Devin Fernandez, Taylor Conner, Kaley Wuestenfeld, Kelli Mose, Richard Riggle, Alexi Holland, Karsyn Wuestenfeld and Aria Eggenberg.

He is preceded in death by his mother Patricia Fernandez, uncle Phil Santos, aunt Nina Santos, cousin Richard Garcia, nephew David Riggle and grandparents.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant, Oklahoma. Pastor Joe Patterson will officiate.
