James Michael Evans
November 11, 1976 ~ May 6, 2026

James Michael Evans, 49, of McAlester, passed away Wednesday, May 6, in Tulsa. A celebration of life, the way he would want it, will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at the Housing Authority community building on 1500 E Chickasaw. Come anytime after 5:00 p.m. There will be food, drinks, music, and splash pad, and other activities for the kids to enjoy. Please dress casual but respectful, as James has never been one to dress up in a coat and tie, and he wouldn’t want anyone else to either.

James Evans was born on Nov. 11, 1976 in Jacksonville, N. C. to Bobby Ray Evans and Lucille (Parker) Evans. James and Melissa moved from Washington to McAlester in 2009 and were raising their 3 children here. James worked at the Army Ammunition Plant as an event organizer the past 14 years. In his free-time he liked to go fishing, watch TV and play video games, and spend time with his family. James was diagnosed with heart failure inn 2018, and lost the battle to RSV and other complications.

James is survived by his wife, Melissa Evans; children, Alazay Nalepa, Alisa James Evans, and Ashley Lynn Evans; grandchildren, Layla Finamore and Xavier Stacey; his parents, Bobby Ray Evans and Lucille Evans; a sister, Christine Evans; and brothers, Adam Evans, Matthew Evans, Bob Mekler, and John Mekler.
