Carolyn Kay (Bonnett) Earley

Carolyn Kay (Bonnett) Earley
January 8, 1940 ~ September 9, 2025

Carolyn Kay Bonnett Earley, age 85, passed away on September 9, 2025 in Enid, OK. A viewing will be held at Anderson Burris Funeral Home starting on Thursday September 11, 2025 until Saturday September 13, 2025. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Carolyn was born to Leon and Velma Bonnett on January 8th, 1940, in Enid, OK. Her mother passed away when Carolyn was 13 years old, leaving her father to spoil her as an only child.

She married Sanford Earley in Enid, OK. Together they had five children, Mike, Kay, Bill, Gina and Carol.

Carolyn was a terrific and well-loved mom, grandma and great grandma. She loved to knit, crochet, sew and quilt, anything to keep her hands busy. She made many, many blankets for her kids and special blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved working crossword puzzles and reading. She loved cooking especially banana nut bread, fudge, and her famous “Katie’s Sugar Cookies” that she would make for everyone at Christmas time. As much as she loved cooking she also loved her pets.

She was a longtime member of Bethany United Methodist Church where she was involved in the quilting group, choir and food pantry.

She worked for the Department of Human Services for several years. Then, she went to work for the Enid Public Schools Central Kitchen in the early 1990’s. She retired twice, once in 2013, returning in 2015 to help serve meals to children at Coolidge and Adams Elementary Schools, and retired finally in 2020.

She was a cancer survivor twice. Unfortunately, in 2020, Covid accelerated her dementia, and she was admitted to Greenbrier Nursing Home where she remained until her passing. She enjoyed her time at Greenbrier and the many friends she made.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law Patrick Medina. She is survived by her children, Mike (Becky) Earley, Bartlesville, OK, Dr. Kay Medina, Rochester, MN, Bill (Debbie) Earley, Norman, OK, Gina (Terry) Stroope, Enid, OK and Carol Earley, Enid, OK. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Paige (Andrew) Kimrey, Katie (Carl) Whitson, Sarah (Jake) Giese, Tyler (Jennifer) Earley, Ryan (Carley) Earley, Austin Earley, Megan Druse, Hunter Stroope and Braden (Audra) Stroope, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tom Snyder for all his years as her physician, Greenbrier Nursing Home staff and the nurses at Hospice Circle of Love. Memorials can be made through Anderson Burris Funeral Home to Hospice Circle of Love.
