Joanne "Jody" (Shockey) Duncan

Joanne "Jody" Duncan was born October 9, 1941 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Cleo Pauline and Orville Anderson Shockey. She passed away January 11, 2014 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 2 days.

Jody grew up in Gentry, Arkansas and graduated from Gentry High School in 1959. After graduation, she was married to Ross Vernon Duncan and they moved to many different towns following Vernon's job until moving to Elk City in 1963. Jody worked for Southwestern Bell, Brewers Answering Service, Great Plains Regional Medical Center and eventually became a nurse for home healthcare before her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting and riding and caring for horses.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 daughter, Polly Duncan.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Becky Scott and husband, Tom, Elk City, OK; 2 grandchildren, Franklin Duncan and wife, Lindy, Elk City, OK; and Whitney Duncan, Elk City, OK; 2 great grandchildren, Cherokee Duncan, and Fallon Duncan, 2 brothers, Dave Shockey and wife, Dorothy, Nenana, AK; and Ben Shockey and wife, Beverly, Watts, OK; and a host of other relatives and friends.
