Thad Delos Duel

July 14, 1932 ~ Dec. 28, 2005

The funeral for Thad Delos Duel, 73, of McCall, Idaho, will be 1 p.m. today at Community Congregational Church, McCall.

He was born July 14, 1932, in Carmen, OK. to R.W. and Jerry Duel and died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, in Boise, Idaho.

He attended Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK. and graduated from Panhandle State University, Goodwell, OK. with a bachelor of science degree in history.

He married Wanda Peck Aug. 14, 1952, in Muskogee, OK. He taught and coached football in Oklahoma, Kansas and Idaho.

In 1966, they moved to McCall where he was a smokejumper trainer and jumper, retiring in 1987 after 451 jumps. He was an avid skier throughout the northwest Colorado, and helicopter skied in Canada.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda, of McCall; three daughters, Thais Shapiro of Denver, CO., Thera Follett of Lewiston, Idaho, and Lane Duel of Tulsa, OK.; his mother, Jerry Duel of Oklahoma City, OK.; one brother, Chan Duel of Hennessey, OK.; one sister, Dena Sponsler of Eufaula, OK.; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Central Idaho Historical Museum.
