Ronald Dean Dry, 77, of Salina, Oklahoma, passed away on April 8, 2026, in Salina. He was born on January 24, 1949, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Barker and Hazel (Ward) Dry. Ronald was a lifelong farmer and rancher who took great pride in his work and in caring for his cattle. He graduated from Salina High School in 1967 and built a life rooted in hard work, faith, and family. He enjoyed gardening and was especially known for his strawberries—so much so that many looked forward each year and gladly waited their turn to enjoy them. He spent countless hours building fences, cutting wood, and staying active outdoors. Ronald had a deep love for sports of all kinds. He enjoyed watching the Oklahoma City Thunder, never missed the excitement of the World Series, and was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. In his younger years, he enjoyed running dogs with friends and wolf hunting. Above all, he treasured time with his grandchildren and found great peace in studying the Bible. Ronald will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for the land, and the way he cared deeply for those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Dry; sons, Eldon Dry of Salina, Oklahoma, and Jerry Battenfield of Pryor, Oklahoma; special son and caregiver, Curtis Stokes, and grandson, Lane Stokes; daughter, Ronna Stokes of Salina, Oklahoma; sisters, Judy and Melvin Pritchett of Salina, Oklahoma, Jan Nichols of Rose, Oklahoma, Gina and her husband Stu Henderson of Jay, Oklahoma, and Glendia Moore of Disney, Oklahoma; along with many grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barker and Hazel Dry; granddaughter, Amanda Copeland; and brothers, Dewayne Dry, Garrel Dry, and Larry Dry.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2026, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stu Henderson officiating.
