Collinsville-
Matthew Blake Downing, 26, of Collinsville, Oklahoma, passed away on January 15, 2026. While his time with us was far too short, the light he brought into our lives will remain forever.
Born in Tulsa in 1999 to Caren Sue and Paul Dave Downing, Matthew grew up as a gentle soul with a curious mind. A proud graduate of Collinsville Public Schools, Matthew followed his passion for history to Rogers State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History. He found true fulfillment in his work as a Museum Associate at The Museum Broken Arrow, where his intellect and dedication helped bring history to life for others.
Matthew was the embodiment of kindness—a sweet, considerate man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His heart was especially tender toward animals; we find peace knowing he has been reunited with his beloved cat, Bobby, who passed away just a few months ago. Matthew possessed an infectious smile that could brighten the darkest day, a gift we will carry in our hearts until we meet again.
Matthew's younger brother Andrew used to always try to pick on Matthew, so he would always give Andrew rib tickles, which would end in laughter from his brother and his family.
Matthew and Emily would play Yu-gi-oh together and Matthew was very very good at it. Her favorite memory was beating him at it and continuing to remind him of his loss\her win.
To his wife, Casey, Matthew was more than a husband; he was her soulmate and her home. Their connection was deep and unwavering. Casey will forever miss his "cute face," the warmth of his kiss, the sound of his voice, and the quiet joy of simply being in his presence. Though he is no longer physically here, we know he is watching over us—our guardian angel, protecting his wife, his family, and his friends from the afterlife.
We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the communities of Collinsville and Broken Arrow for the overwhelming outpour of love, prayers, and support during this devastating time.
Matthew is survived by his devoted wife, Casey Quinn Downing; his loving parents, Caren Sue and Paul Dave Downing; and his siblings, Emily Dawn Downing and Andrew Kyle Downing.
In honor of Matthew’s legacy and his passion for Museum Studies, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his name to "The Museum Broken Arrow".
