David Allan DeWitt

David Allan DeWitt
January 02, 1956 ~ June 25, 2017

David Allen DeWitt, son of Al and Darlene DeWitt, passed away at age 61 at his home in Saginaw, Michigan on Saturday, June 24, 2017. He was born in Santa Ana, California on January 2, 1956. Dave married Justine La Voie and to this union one son was born Chris DeWitt. Dave had a daughter, Renee Saunders.

Dave owned his own business Dave's Carpentry. He loved anything to do with working on homes and built the most beautiful homes. He was also known in the area for his home remodeling work. Dave loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles. From a young age Dave and his two brothers and two sisters Grant, Doug, June and Kari, also Dad and Momma Dewitt always rode motorcycles together, that is if they all weren't camping, hunting, fishing, or swimming in Palm Springs, CA.

Dave attended the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. The family loved to camp together and if they were camping on Sunday Dave's dad and mom insisted they have church. They would sing songs, prayed and each would give thanks around the campfire and quote their favorite bible verses. Dave's favorite verse was always "Jesus Wept". Everyone always smiled about it because it is the shortest verse in the Bible.

Dave loved to deer hunt with his dad, and they had hunted together since he was 12 years old. He killed his first dear at Brandeis Deer Camp in Sini Valley, CA. Dave was known for his clean shot kills, shot in the ear and came straight out the other, and he never ruined one bit of meat.

Although Dave loved the outdoors, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He loved spending time with his family as much as he could. He was always bragging about his son Chris and daughter Renee, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. Especially the time when the family went skiing at Loveland Valley Ski Resort. At the age of six, Chris learned how to ski in only thirty minutes. Everyone at the resort was astonished at how well Chris was already skiing. Dave proudly spoke up with a smile and said that is my son. His love and pride he had for his family was great and after each visit he would say how Chris and Renee's hospitality was over the top. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl DeWitt, paternal grandparents Albert and Vivian DeWitt, maternal grandparent Ruth Houston, one brother Grant DeWitt, and one aunt Carol Witherell.

Dave is survived by his son Chris Dewitt and wife Lisa of Connecticut and granddaughter Allison DeWitt; his daughter Renee Howell Saunders and husband Beau, granddaughter Kaci Miller and her husband Austin, great granddaughter Lorelai, and grandson Kit Saunders all of Arkansas; parents Allen and Darlene Dewitt of Vici, OK; two sisters June Kittler and Kari Lipham; one brother Doug DeWitt; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
