Betty J. (Cabe) Detrixhe

February 2, 1932 ~ April 12, 2016

The funeral service for Betty Detrixhe, age 84, of Shattuck, formerly of Higgins, Texas will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 15, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Shattuck, with Rev. Rick Trobaugh officiating. Private family burial will be after the funeral in the Higgins Cemetery, Higgins, Texas. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, Enid. Betty will lie in state on Friday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Shattuck

Betty was born to Troy Lee (Casey) Cabe and Ruth Kirker (French) Cabe on February 2, 1932, in the Higgins Hotel in Higgins, Texas. She graduated from Higgins High School in 1951. After high school, she worked at various jobs including the First National Bank in Higgins, Citizens Bank in Oklahoma City, and a photography studio in Denver, Colorado. Upon returning to Higgins from Colorado, she married a fellow she had ridden a school bus with years before, Dick Cann Detrixhe, on December 10, 1954, at the local Methodist parsonage. To this union, one child was born, a daughter Ruth Ann. Dick and Betty made their home on a farm/ranch south of Higgins until his death on November 5, 2006. She remained on the farm until the fall of 2014, when she moved physically to Shattuck. However, she NEVER became on Okie!

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers-in-law, niece, Karen Spaeth. She is survived by her daughter Ann Herber and husband Darrell of Shattuck; four granddaughters: Jeni Hinkle and husband Jeff of Shattuck, Suzanne Herber of Oklahoma City, Crystal Herber of Kansas City, and Tricia Herber of Stillwater; one great-grandson Cannon Patrick Hinkle of Shattuck; one sister Dr. Yvonne Carmichael of Alva; three sisters-in-law: Anita Detrixhe of Bastrop, Texas, Ima Detrixhe of Higgins, and Donna Detrixhe of Shattuck; fifteen nieces and nephews; and numerous grand and great nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to West Texas Rehab Center.
