Edith Emeline (Hammond) Denham
July 21, 1924 ~ August 09, 2019

Edith Emeline (Hammond) Denham, age 95, went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 9, 2019.  She was born July 21, 1924 in Vinland, Kansas to Arthur Graham Hammond and Margaret Emma (Kalb) Hammond.

Edith graduated Vinland Schools as class valedictorian and taught all grades at Fairview School, south of Lawrence, Kansas.  She married David Denham on June 16, 1947.  A homemaker on the family farm in Lawrence, Kansas, she enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens and led a busy life caring for her family.  She was an active member of the Friends Church, playing the organ and piano for most church services and special events, reflecting her love of music and worshipping her Lord and Savior.

She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing for her family and creating custom horse show clothing. She enjoyed baking for her family, friends and church.  A loving mother and grandmother, she was active in the lives of her children and grandchildren, filling their hearts with love and the Word of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David Denham and sisters Roberta Hammond Hoskinson and Eunice Hammond York. 

Edith is survived by sisters Florence Cox, Evelyn Thomas, daughters Diane Denham and Kay Springer, grandchildren Angie Anderson, Ashley Rowe, Bobby Springer, Whitney Springer, great-grandchildren Lexi & Brooklyn Anderson, Mason & Sawyer Rowe, nephew Phil Cox, Dana Thomas, Richard York,  nieces Sharon Clements, Sylvia York, Patty Irick, Marsha Thomas and Sherrie Thomas Amstutz.
