William Delk

January 5, 1947 ~ May 9, 2023

William Delk of Caddo, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the age of 76 years old. He was born on January 5, 1947 in Covington, Tennessee to William Melvin and Bertha Warrene (Koonce) Delk.

William was a retired millwright welder. He enjoyed playing chess. William was also known as “Papa Smurf”. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Caddo. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Melody Delk and her boyfriend Ron of Savanna, Illinois, his son William Ashley Delk in Portage, Indiana, stepdaughter Doritia Nichols-Williams and husband Paul of Caddo, and stepson Allen Ridgell and wife DeAnna of Bartlett, Tennessee. He is also survived by his sisters Bertha Jones and husband Jim of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Florence Coker of Covington, Tennessee, as well as his brother Bennie Delk of Atoka, Tennessee. His legacy lives on with his grandchildren Toni Slahetka of Rainier, Oregon, Branden Delk of Laporte, Indiana, Tommy Delk of Eldersburg, Maryland, Madison Delk of Portage, Indiana, Cherrish Nichols of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Jackie Nichols of Durant, Oklahoma, Adam Ridgell, Andrew Ridgell and Elizabeth Ridgell all of Memphis, Tennessee. Also, three great-grandchildren Chyenne Patton, Lois Patton, and Jacqulynn Patton all of Caddo, Oklahoma.

Preceding him in death are his parents William and Bertha Delk, his wife Martha Denise Delk, brother James Delk, and grandchildren Carmen and Dakoyta Nichols.
