Matthew Seth "Matt" DeJonge

Matthew Seth "Matt" DeJonge
July 28, 1974 ~ February 16, 2020

Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Matt grew up in Oklahoma City with his Mom and sister. After graduating from UCO, he began his career with the Social Security Administration. In 2007, he met the love of his life and married Jennifer. Together they were blessed with twins in 2011.

Matt’s health issues never diminished his love of life or interfered with the boundless love he showed his wife and kids. The family thanks all the medical professionals that cared for Matt and extended his life.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; children, Evey and Jonah of the home in Guthrie; his mother, Eda Perman ; sister, Erica Chestnut; and nephew, Holden Chestnut of Oklahoma City. His Guthrie family of in-laws include his Mom and Dad, two sisters and brother and his three nieces and nephew.

Matt was an active member of the Waterloo Church of Christ.

If you felt a disturbance in the force on Sunday morning (Star Wars reference), it was God taking Matt to be at his side. He left us too soon and no one saw it coming. Whether you called him friend, son, brother, husband or daddy you loved him. He touched all our lives and we are all better for the time we spent with him. We were not ready to lose him, but “Matt we’ll see you on the other side”.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Matt’s life at 12:00 P.M., Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Waterloo Rd. Church of Christ, 4404 E. Waterloo Rd., Edmond, OK 73044. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

There will not be any visitation.
