Samuel Thomas Dean age 79 of Lexington, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, October 18, 2013. Sam was born June 20, 1934 in Purcell, Oklahoma. He was the middle child of three born to Samuel Dean and Lucille (Barton).

 Sam grew up in Purcell and graduated from Purcell High School in 1952. While in H. S. he enjoyed playing football. After H. S. he went to work in the oil field and lived at home to help support his mother.

On June 22, 1956 he married the love of his life, Patricia Elaine Walker, a young lady from Purcell. One year after they were married, Sam was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for two years before being honorably discharged in 1959.

When he returned home he again worked in the oil field before going to work for the U.S. Government. As a government employee he began working in California and later Utah. After being transferred back to Oklahoma he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Del City until he retired in the 1990’s.

Sam enjoyed country living and in 1980 he and Pat moved to a small acreage east of Lexington. He loved being in the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and raising farm animals. But he especially loved his two dogs. For many years he had been an active and faithful member at Lexington First Baptist Church. In previous years he enjoyed going to the local nursing homes and teaching bible studies devotions.

He was preceded in death by: Parents: Sam and Lucille Dean, Wife: Pat Dean on March 26, 2013, Two sisters: Donna Feghali and Nancy Dean,

He is survived by: One son: Monte Dean of Lexington, A sister-in-law: Karen Wigley of Purcell, A brother-in-law: Duane Walker and wife Aline of Purcell, Three nieces: Lori Taylor of Purcell, Heather Brady and husband Mark of Purcell, Michele Moore and husband Eddie of Yukon, Two nephews: Clint Walker of Purcell, Sam Hall and wife Heather of Colorado, And many other church friends and neighbors.

Memorial services will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lexington First Baptist Church.
