Deborah Sue (Hamilton) Dean
June 13, 1960 ~ March 30, 2021

Deborah Sue Hamilton Dean was born on June 13, 1960 in Pekin, Illinois to Ernest “Ernie” and Doris (Boston) Hamilton. Deborah passed away on March 30, 2021 in Guthrie, Oklahoma at the age of 60.

Deborah had been living in Guthrie for the last 21 years. She moved to Guthrie from Stillwater in 2000. Deborah received her associates degree from Langston University and her bachelors degree from Oklahoma State University. She worked as a teacher most of her adult life and retired from Oklahoma City Public Schools in 2018. Deborah was a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and was a very active volunteer with the Oklahoma Veterans Affairs where she was in charge of the Stockings for Veterans Drive.

On St. Patrick’s Day in 2007 she married Jimmy Dean in Miami, Oklahoma.

Survivors include her husband Jimmy Dean of the home, mother Doris Hamilton of Tryon, daughter Candace Johnson and husband Jason of Guthrie, son Jason Barber and wife Christie of Broken Arrow, sister Julie Hamilton of Lawton, brother Rick Hamilton and wife Michelle of Newcastle, and her four grandchildren Connor Johnson, Maverick Barber, Tyler Barber, and Zaiden Barber. Deborah is also survived by her nephews, niece, great niece and a host of cousins. Deborah was preceded in death by her father Ernie Hamilton and her nephew Matthew Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Guthrie Police Department Shop with a Cop Program (306 W. Oklahoma Ave. Guthrie, OK 73044) or the Matthew David Hamilton Memorial Scholarship (www.occc.edu/foundation/donation-form, Oklahoma City Community College Foundation, P.O. Box 1146, Oklahoma City, OK 73101-1146).
