On the morning of March 9, 2023, Donna Dayton of Guthrie went to be with Jesus at the age of 75 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family.

Donna Kaye Pope was born to Marion and Bessie Pope, along with her twin brother, Donald in Enid, OK on August 10, 1947. She was raised in Enid, attended Enid Public Schools and graduated from Enid High School in 1965.

Donna met the love of her life, Lloyd Dayton, on a blind date while attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She married Lloyd on July 8, 1967 at Central Christian Church in Enid where she attended. After marriage, Lloyd and Donna lived in numerous places while Lloyd served in the Air Force and completed his Coop Management Trainee Program.

Donna and Lloyd settled in Pond Creek in 1979 where they raised their family. She was active in the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Donna and Lloyd served for many years in the youth department as well. Donna taught in the churches she attended for over 40 years. She loved music and sang in the choir. Donna had recently joined the bell choir at Noble Avenue Baptist Church in Guthrie where she currently attended. She had many talents including baking, cake decorating, flower arranging, and crafting. Donna loved plants and flowers and took pride in her flower beds each spring. Her favorite pastime though was being a mom to four children and a grandma to her seven grandchildren.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Bessie Pope; older brother, Gilbert Pope; son, Todd Dayton and grandson, Matthew LaFortune.

Donna leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Lloyd Dayton; three surviving children, Lori LaFortune and husband, Dan of Cashion; Kevin Dayton and wife, Juliana of Oklahoma City; Ryan Dayton and wife, Tricia of Helena; twin brother, Donnie Pope of Enid. Grandma also leaves behind six surviving grandchildren - Joshua and Kaden LaFortune, Isabella Dayton, and Ethan, Ali, and Carter Dayton.

Services for Donna will be Monday, March 13, 2023 at 2:00pm at Graceway Baptist Church, 2918 W. Randolph, Enid, OK. The family will be hosting a visitation at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 2:00-4:00pm.
