Karen Susan (Franklin) Day
September 13, 1944 ~ January 12, 2019

Karen Susan Franklin Day was born on September 13, 1944, to Anna Belle DeMoise Franklin and Howard Albert Franklin in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Karen returned to our Lord and Savior on January 12, 2019 at her home in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Karen was raised in Ponca City and attended Ponca City Public Schools. During her school aged years, she enjoyed performing ballet and being around her family and friends. Karen was a member of Future Homemakers of America in high school and she graduated from Ponca City High School in 1962.

Karen married Johnny DeWayne Day on November 18, 1961, and they moved to California for a short time before making their home in Blackwell. Karen and Johnny had two children, their son, Scott Day born July 12, 1962, and their daughter, Kristi Ward, born December 21, 1965. Karen was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for nearly twenty years. She was a devout Christian and a devoted and loving wife to her husband until he passed away on May 15, 2010.

Karen was proceeded in death by her parents Anna and Howard Franklin; her sister, Thelma Moore; her brother, Johnny Franklin; and her grandson, Quinton Day.

Karen is survived by her two children, Scott Day and Kristi Ward, both of Blackwell; and eight grandchildren, Samantha Prince, Whitnie Moeder, Teniah Day, Braun Day, Autumn Day, Joseph Day, and Payden Day. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren Brylee Prince, Aden Moeder, Andrew Moeder, Emily Prince, Tessa Moeder, Kinsley Puza, Emma Day, Jesylin Day, and Nora Anderson.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16th in the Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Matt Smith officiating.

Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Monty Moyer, Mick Moyer, Scott Day, Zachary Moeder and Clint Freeman.
