Stephen J. Davis

Stephen J. Davis
July 5, 1956 ~ August 20, 2021

Stephen J. Davis passed from this life August 20, 2021 at Broadway Living Center in Lexington, Oklahoma. He was 65 years old.

He was born in the middle of a raging thunderstorm on July 5, 1956 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Jake and Anne (Carter) Davis. He was educated in the Blackwell school system and participated in baseball, football and wrestling. After graduation in 1974, he went to work for Shebester/Bechtel Well Service and continued working in the oil field for most of his life. He loved the water and boats, growing up spending every summer weekend at the lake with his family, fishing, swimming and skiing. These early years of lake life eventually led him to his greatest passion, dragboat racing. He spent many hours on many lakes with family and friends, and was all about sitting around the campfire, swapping tall tales and drinking beer. He loved animals and was rarely without a dog in his life.

He is survived by his daughter Mindy Leitner (Cody) of Perry, granddaughter Ky and grandson Canaan, sister Benita (Davis) Vap of Edmond, brother Joe Davis (Janet) of Tonkawa, nieces Mistie Davis of Austin, Texas, Leigh Ann (Vap) Gilles of Oklahoma City, Rhiannon (Davis) Hazen of Protection, Kansas and nephew Garin Davis of Tonkawa. He is also survived by three great-nieces and three great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy Davis of Blackwell.

A private memorial is planned by the family.
