Enid Imogene (McReynolds) Davis

Enid Imogene (McReynolds) Davis
March 6, 1928 ~ December 26, 2019

Imogene Davis was born on March 6th 1928 to Harry Paris McReynolds and Stella Lenora (Ogden) McReynolds in Cincinnati Arkansas. She lost her mother at the young age of 10.

At the age of 13, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and savior. With her mother gone, she had to step into the role of helping to raise her younger brothers. Her father would later marry Marie Wilson and Imogene and her four brothers would be joined by a step-sister and eventually two more brothers.

On December 18th 1945, she married Richard Alvin Davis. This began a romance that would last 74 years and eight days until her death on December 26th 2019. They began their married life and started their family in Stilwell Oklahoma. Dorothy Lenora and Richard Eugene joined the family in March of 1947 and August of 1948.

After the family relocated to Seattle Washington in the early 50s, Imogene found employment with The Boeing Company where she worked as an executive secretary for 21 years.

Imogene always had a sense of appreciation for life and found great satisfaction in imparting that joy to her friends, co-workers, and family. As grandchildren came along, grandma was inspired to pass along the things she enjoyed to her grandchildren. When each of them were 8 years old they were given the privilege of staying with grandma and grandpa for two weeks. During this time Imogene planted seeds of her favorite things in life. She began passing on her love for growing flowers, and vegetables, and the nurturing process that turns a small seed into a vibrant and beautiful flower. She taught them about art, and painting, and sewing, and that candy from grandma is really good for you.

Imogene retired from Boeing in 1983 and returned to farm life in Stilwell Oklahoma. There she flourished with her love for gardening and flowers. Her gardens were always teaming over with life and color. She researched and wrote genealogy books, sewed many beautiful quilts (most of which she gave away to family and friends), cared for the hurting and inspired all of us to be more creative, joyful, and loving. She treated a flower garden and a person the same way, always leaving them better and more beautiful than when she found them.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, Harry and Stella, stepmother Marie, brothers Harry, Robert and Edward, step-sister Louise and granddaughter Rachel (Bowen) Unger.

She is survived by her husband Richard Alvin Davis; Children, Dorothy Lenora Bowen (Glenn) and Richard Eugene Davis (Carolyn); Brothers, Kenneth McReynolds (Beverly), James McReynolds, and Donald McReynolds; Grandchildren, John Bowen, Elizabeth Bevers, Michael Bowen Regina Thomas, Stephen Davis, Daniel Davis. Several great-grandchildren and many other friends and relatives also survive her.
