Billy Joe Davis

August 26, 1921 ~ January 3, 2004

Billy Joe Davis passed away January 3, 2004, at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, she was 82 years old. Billy Joe was born in Stratford, Oklahoma, on August 26, 1921, and grew up in Mangum, Oklahoma. She moved to California during WW II and became an elementary school teacher for the Los Angeles City School District for 32 years. She moved to Bakersfield to be closer to her family and lived at Glenwood Gardens for the past two years.

She enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and spending time with her family. She was a talented actress and enjoyed participating in theater workshops and going to the theater. She lived life to its fullest.

Billy Joe adored her family and is survived by her sister, Irma Ruth Gates of Derby, Kansas; daughter, Penni Sue Acosta of Imperial Beach; son, Brad Norris and daughter-in-law, Cindy of Bakersfield; six lovely grandchildren, Shawna, Ramon, Catherine, Emilia, Bobby and Natalie; and two very special great grandchildren, Daisy and Ezra.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. No visitation is scheduled.
