ENID, OK — Respected and admired by family and friends, Frances Elaine Danely died on October 17, 2013, at the age of 97. Frances was born November 22, 1915, in Enid to Mary Ellen (Arnold) and Logan Lincoln Danely at the home of her grandparents.

At her request, her body has been donated for educational purposes to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. A memorial service for Frances will be held Friday, October 25, at 3 p.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Frances graduated from Enid High School in 1933 and from Phillips University in 1937 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught junior high and high school math and science for two years each at Farry and Seiling schools. In 1941, she began working in the Directorate of Civilian Headquarters of the War Department, transferring in 1947 to the Directorate of Civilian Personnel Headquarters, United States Air Force. The Department of the Air Force presented her the Meritorious Civilian Service Award for her distinguished performance as personnel management specialist in the Directorate of Civilian Personnel, office of deputy chief of staff, personnel, headquarters, USAF, from April 1962 to April 1973, when she retired.

Frances returned home to Enid, where she enjoyed the Lifelong Learning classes, Enid Symphony Orchestra, Gaslight Theatre, reading and playing cards. She made crocheted or knitted afghans for each of her nieces and nephews and some of their children. She attended University Place Christian Church.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Virginia “Ginger” Hitt, Enid, and her brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Joan Danely; three nephews and six nieces, their spouses and wonderful children.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lawrence “Larry” Lee Roy Hitt and Logan Quentin Hitt.

Frances was very pleased and proud that her family included by birth, marriage or adoption, persons who were born in South Korea, the Philippines, Ecuador, Poland and the USA.
