Sharon Faye Cowden, 67, of Blanchard, passed away on April 19, 2026 in Oklahoma City. The daughter of Wilford Loren Holder and Nyta Lorene (Brady) Holder, Sharon was born on July 26, 1958, in Oklahoma City.
Sharon grew up in Blanchard and graduated from Blanchard High School. Right after graduation, she went to work for the FAA. She began working in the cafeteria. Before retirement, Sharon had worked as an EIS program manager and aviation data systems specialist. Sharon married Charlie Cowden on February 13, 2005. They were both members of Awaken Church for several years. Sharon loved growing flowers and enjoyed eating out, especially at San Marcos, but it had to be the one on 59th Street. She had the most outgoing personality and never met a stranger. She earned the nickname Gabby from her father-in-law which she came by quite honestly, because she literally talked to everyone she met. Sharon had a very strong family orientation and loved spending time with her family. Her role of “Mimi” to Landon brought her the greatest joy. Sharon’s passing has left a huge void in the family, and she will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ronnie and Stanley Holder; infant sister, Brenda Holder; nephew, Rex Jones; and brother-in-law, Kent Hornbeck.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 21 years, Charlie Cowden; son, Clint Wells of Blanchard; grandson, Landon Joseph Wells of Blanchard; sisters, Janice Griffin and husband Tom of Marlow, Kaye McVay and husband Robert of Blanchard and Marilyn McDonald and husband Steve of Blanchard; brother, David Holder and wife Sherry of Blanchard; father and mother-in-law, Melvin and Glenda Cowden; sister-in-law, Rachel Holder of Blanchard; brother-in-law, John Hornbeck of Oklahoma City; several nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
