Memorial services for Shirley Ann (Ward) Cooper, 66, of Skiatook, OK, were held Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Tri-County Baptist Church in Skiatook, OK. Chaplain Danielle Clark officiated.
Shirley was born March 23, 1958, in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada, to James Gordon Ward and Carol Flora (Gorman) Ward. She passed away November 30, 2024, in Skiatook, OK.
Shirley was well known in the community of Skiatook as a waitress at both the Top Rail restaurant from 1999-2005 and the Brown Cow restaurant from 2005-2021 as a manager/waitress. Shirley loved all whom she called her “restaurant family”. She was always taking care of all her many customers. Whether it was throwing a birthday party for any and every person she could, letting kids pick out a prize from her basket, or decorating the restaurant for all different occasions, Shirley always had a smile and always gave the people around her all the love she had in her. Shirley also loved going on many adventures with her husband Joe who she was married to in 2001 and remained with for 23 years until her passing. She enjoyed all things outdoors including kayaking, hiking, and riding bikes. Shirley had a real zest for life and was always up for whatever her and Joe could think up to do together. Whatever it was there was always a lot of laughter. Shirley had a great sense of humor. Shirley was also very creative. She loved writing poetry/stories, learning new things, dressing to the nine’s, people in general, children, dogs, chocolate (in any form), and could finish a crossword or cryptoquote in minutes.
Shirley also loved the Lord with all her heart. She leaned into Jesus through every trial/tribulation and continually felt his presence/guidance around her up until she took her last breath.
Shirley passed from this world into the loving arms of her savior Jesus at home on November 23rd at the age of 66.
She is survived by her husband, Jody Cooper; daughter, Alisha O’Neal and husband, Cameron, and Jocelyn McCorston; grandbaby, Bennette; stepdaughter, Sarah McCorston; mother, Carol Ward; sister, Cindy Orman and husband, Darrell; niece, Brooke Orman; great-nephew, Deggan Orman; sisters-in-law, Robbin Cooper, and Lorrie Hall; brother-in-law, Johnny Cooper and wife, Lee; mother-in-love, Barbara Cooper; and many other relatives and friends.
