Memorial services for Clay Dean Clinesmith, 89 of Fairview will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 10, 2021, in the Fairview Central Christian Church. Reverend Jeff Knighton will officiate. Cremation arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Clay Dean Clinesmith was born on February 22, 1932 to Herman and Mary Zola (Glover) Clinesmith at home in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. Clay quickly and peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Fairview Regional Medical Center, in Fairview, Oklahoma.

Clay graduated from Cleo Springs. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Sixty-Eight years ago, Clay hitch hiked across country on a two week pass to marry the love of his life, Marilyn Keck. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he used his GI Bill and attended OSU, receiving a bachelor degree in geology.

In 1962, they moved back to Fairview where he began a career with the Fairview Savings and Loan, successfully guiding it through the banking crisis of the 1980’s. Fairview Savings and Loan was one of only six savings and loans to survive in the state. In 1997 he retired but remained on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed serving the community as an Elder of the Central Christian Church, MAGB transportation board, member of the Lions Club, and various other organizations.

Clay loved to play golf with his wife and friends. He travelled extensively worldwide viewing every continent. He loved designing and creating stained glass.

Clay is survived by his wife Marilyn, son Trent and his wife Marla, daughters Cindy and her husband Lee Brower and Angela and her husband Keith Ingram, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Mary, sister Hallie Fern and brother Bob.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Christian Church with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc acting as custodian.
