Lorene M. Cleere

 ???? ~ June 7, 2002 | Age 80

Lorene M. Cleere, 80, of Amarillo died Friday, June 7, 2002.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain, pastor, and the Rev. F.M. Byford, senior adults minister, officiating. Eastern Star burial rites will be by the A.E. Shirley Chapter No. 986, Order of the Eastern Star. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mrs. Cleere was born in Whitney. She moved to Amarillo in 1944. She retired from the O.M. Franklin Serum Co. where she had worked as a laboratory technician.

She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church where she was active in the Lydia Sunday School class and worked with the Vacation Bible School for many years.

She was a member of the A.E. Shirley Chapter No. 986, Order of the Eastern Star. She served as Worthy Matron in 1964. She married Dean Cleere in 1953 at Clovis, N.M.

She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe after their retirement. She was a caring wife, mother, sister and grandmother who held strong in her faith. Her spiritual gift was mercy and she displayed graciousness, a smile and a witty sense of humor.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Glenda Hunkapiller of Renton, Wash.; two sons, Dr. Carroll E. Cleere of Tulsa, Okla., and Kenny Cleere of Amarillo; a sister, Thelma Buck of Odessa; two brothers, Frank Wood of Amarillo and Cecil G. Wood of Littleton, Colo.; a son-in-law, Waren Hunkapiller of Renton; two daughters-in-law, Janice Cleere of Tulsa and Donna Cleere of Amarillo; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a multitude of relatives and friends.

The family suggests memorials be to Paramount Baptist Church building fund; the National Parkinson Foundation; or BSA Hospice.
