Richard Felix Choate

Richard Felix Choate
January 3, 1942 ~ December 11, 2020

Richard Felix Choate was born January 3, 1942 in Bunch, Oklahoma, the son of Elmer and Edna (Thurber) Choate, Felix was born and raised in the house that he would later depart this life on December 11, 2020.

Felix graduated from Cave Springs High School in 1960. He would go on to attend Okmulgee Tech for two years. Felix then enlisted in the Army National Guard along with several buddies. Felix would work and retire from the US Postal Service as a rural carrier where he loved seeing and waving to everyone. After retirement in 2002, he would become a full-time cattleman which he loved doing.

Felix was saved and baptized in 1982 at the Akins Assembly of God, where he attended church for several years. He later attended the Bunch Baptist, then attended the Guiding Light Church and loved the church services and the fellowship of the people.

Felix also enjoyed spending time with his family – especially with Marry Ann, the love of his life, who he enjoyed sitting out on the porch drinking coffee with in the morning and evening, sometimes with coats on, depending on the weather. He also enjoyed eating meals on the porch. Felix loved everything outdoors. He loved checking cattle, fences, anything on the farm. He loved riding his 4-wheeler with his dog sugar riding with him. He always enjoyed riding horses from a very young age. He enjoyed going to farm sales and auctions with his friends and loved raising cattle.

Felix was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Edna (Thurber) Choate. One son: Joey Neal Choate and one sister: Lois Bradford of Stilwell, Oklahoma.

He is survived by a very loving family, who loves him dearly, including his loving wife of 56 years: Mary Ann Choate. One son: Coby Choate of Bunch, Oklahoma and one daughter: Felicia Choate of Bunch, Oklahoma. 4 grandsons: Joey Aaron Choate of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Thomas McCoy of Bunch, Oklahoma, Jacob Choate of Bunch, Oklahoma and Cole Choate of Stilwell, Oklahoma. One sister: Mary Ann Cain of Stilwell, Oklahoma. Several nieces and nephews and many, many friends survive him.

He will be missed by all who loved him.
