Nita Colleen (York) Chestnut
Oct. 23, 1936 ~ June 7, 2014

ENID, Okla. � Nita Colleen (York) Chestnut, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 7, 2014. She was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Nash, Okla., to LeRoy and Alma (Yoder) York.

She graduated from Nash High School in 1955, as class valedictorian.

Nita worked as a medical transcriptionist in Shattuck, Okla., before moving to Mustang in 1973. While living in Mustang, Nita worked as an administrative assistant at Mustang Public Schools for 21 years.

She was an active member of The Bridge Assembly of God. She served as an information volunteer, compassion cook and member of the sewing ministry, providing prayer quilts and dresses as missionary work.

Nita was a sports fanatic, but her pride and joy of life was watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in activities, no matter how far she had to travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, O�Neil of the home; two daughters, Anita Rae and husband Tommy Emmons of Shattuck, and Deanna and husband Larry Ashpaugh of Shattuck; three sons, Terry and wife Fran of Mustang, Troy of Bixby and Craig and wife Shannon of Mustang. She had nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She also is survived by three siblings, Bill York of Nash, Pat Cronkhite of Enid and Tommy York, also of Nash, Okla.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Bridge Assembly of God Inner City Church Plant.

Service is 10 a.m. today, June 11, 2014, at The Bridge Assembly of God Church in Mustang, Okla., with interment to follow in Mustang Cemetery, Mustang, Okla.
