Wanda F. Cherry

July 17, 1928 ~ July 2, 2006

Wanda F. Cherry, age 77, of 3501 Bengston Street, Bakersfield, CA, died in her home following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease on July 2, 2006.

She was born July 17, 1928, in the town of Lamar, Oklahoma but was a resident of Bakersfield since the early 1940s where she pursued a successful career as a waitress for many years.

She was a wonderful, loving, caring, giving mother and wife who will be missed enormously.

Wanda was a member of Victory Chapel Church, 800 Airport Dr.

Wanda is survived by her husband, David, her four sons, Jerry Cantrell and his wife, Terry, Modesto, CA, Phillip Cantrell, Las Vegas, NV, Russell Cantrell, Bakersfield, CA, William Cantrell and his wife, Donna, Bakersfield, CA; her stepsons, Craig Cherry, Denver, CO, Boyd Cherry and his wife, Rita, Tulsa, OK; her stepdaughters, Danna and her husband, Scott Johnson, Fresno, CA, Michelle Cherry, Fresno, CA, her 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Boyle, Lake Isabella, CA. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Graveside services for Wanda F. Cherry will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at Greenlawn Mortuary and Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd. The Rev. Kenneth Nole, Pastor, will officiate.

Relatives and friends are welcomed at the Greenlawn Mortuary for visitation on Friday. July 7, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
