William Randolph "Billy" Cheatwood, II
November 1, 1938 ~ February 29, 2016

William Randolph Cheatwood, II (Billy) passed away Monday, February 29, 2016. He was born November 1, 1938 in Oklahoma City to William R. Cheatwood, MD and Ramona Allen Cheatwood.

A gifted musician, Billy was a prominent figure in the folk music scene of the early 1960's and taught music at colleges in Oklahoma and New Mexico. He was also a respected luthier.

He was married to Judith Faye Williams in 1962. Billy and his family traveled widely and made many lifelong friends.

Billy is survived by sisters, Ramona (Doug) Morris and Jeanne (Joe) Roden; sons, WR Cheatwood III (Rusty), Parker Cheatwood, and Jesse Cheatwood; and granddaughter, Kiarra Faye Dean, and one ferret named Bob.

A celebration of his life will be held at the home of Pat and Steve Brainard on Saturday, March 12, 2016 with music, storytelling, and laughter. Those wishing to attend may contact the family at (405)999-8473.

Arrangements were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
