Nannie Allyn (Scott) Cheatham

February 4, 1918 ~ April 02, 2013

Nannie Allyn Scott Cheatham, 95, passed away at Grace Living Center of Muskogee, Oklahoma on Tuesday, April 02, 2013. She was a resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma for the last five years and former resident of Tahlequah, Oklahoma for over twenty years.

Nannie was born in Vian, Oklahoma on February 4, 1918 to Allen Harnage and Ada (Forman) Scott.

She lived in Vian as a small child. Allen and Ada had seven children, five of which were born at home, Nannie was the eldest.

She graduated Central High School in Oklahoma City before marrying Walter Milton Cheatham January 1, 1939. They had seven children between them.

While in Oklahoma City she attended business school, worked in sales in western ware, and was always an avid horse woman who started as a trick rider at the age of five. She rode many trail rides and rodeos. She raised and sold horses as well as taught riding to children. She took her final ride on her eighth ninth birthday.

In Tahlequah she attended Northeastern State University where her grandmother was one of the original graduates of Seminary Hall and was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. She was involved in so many of their activities such as volunteering at Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, OK.

She was a member of Cornerstone Ministries and was active with the Jehovah’s Witness Ministries .

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, daughter Saundra, sons Jerry, Wesley, and Walter.

She is survived by a brother Walter Allen Scott and wife Charlotte of Texas, son Dan and wife Janet Cheatham of Edmond, Oklahoma, Leah Susan Enloe of Yukon, Oklahoma, and son Phillip and wife Susan of Muskogee, Oklahoma. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews as well as many friends.

Nannie knew and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was much loved and will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched.

Services will be held at Cornerstone Ministries 1501 E. Broadway Muskogee Oklahoma, Saturday, April 13, 1213 at 10:00 am.
