Ofelia (Ortega) Chavez
October 20, 1926 ~ November 28, 2015

Ofelia Chavez was born October 20, 1926 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Beatriz and Liberato Ortega. She passed away November 28, 2015 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 8 days.

Ofelia spent her childhood in Chihuahua, Mexico where she went through elementary school. At the age of 25 she was married to Guillermo Chavez Coss and they remained in Chihuahua. Together Ofelia and Guillermo started and raised their family in Mexico. When her children were grown and moved to the United States, Ofelia spent much of her time going back and forth between the two countries visiting and then returning to her home. In 2012, Ofelia came to America where she remained until present. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cross stitching, and visiting with family and friends. Ofelia spent her life as a homemaker and being a mother to her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her 5 children, Alfredo Chavez, Midland, TX, Rosa Standiford, Edmond, OK, Jesus Chavez and wife, Otilia, Sayre, OK, Beatriz Vallenilla and husband, Cesar, Fort Worth, TX and Elva Aldaz and husband, Luis, Elk City, OK; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Antonio Ortega, Pecos, TX, Liberato Ortega and wife, Maurita, Chihuahua, Mexico and Guadalupe Ortega and wife, Irma, Pecos, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ofelia's body will return to Mexico where the family will hold services with family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service, Elk City.
