James O "Jay" Chappell
May 5, 1959 ~ May 12, 2016

Funeral Services for Mr. James O. 'Jay' Chappell, 57, of Tishomingo, Oklahoma will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Herb Clark Memorial Chapel with Pastor Howard Stanley officiating.  Services will conclude in the chapel. Mr. Chappell passed away on May 12, 2016 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.  The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.  At his request, Mr. Chappell's family selected cremation after the service.

Jay was born on May 5, 1959 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Ellis Chappell and Thelma (Love) Chappell.  He grew up and attended school there, graduating from Pauls Valley High School in 1977. He married Nina Barnes on July 4, 1981 in Pauls Valley. Jay was a very good auto mechanic and retired from the Department of Corrections at the Lexington facility, where he had been a Trade Supervisor, instructing inmates in auto mechanics. He also had been a member and Past Master of Tishomingo Masonic Lodge #91.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Jerry & Mike.

Jay is survived by his wife, Nina Chappell of the home; his son, Heath Chappell of Ravia, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Faith & Will Chappell; his mother, Thelma Chappell of Tishomingo; his brother, Mel Chappell 0f Oklahoma City; his sister, Deana Miller of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and numerous other relatives and friends.
