Daniel Dayton Carr, of New York, passed away Sunday, June 15 at the age of 83 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Daniel was born the son of Rita Mary (Hoffman) and Dayton Smith Carr on May 23, 1942, in Silver Creek, NY. Dan served in the Navy from 1961-1963 where he enjoyed learning helicopter aviation. Worked for Dunlap Construction as a carpenter for many years and for Williams corporation in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At the end of his career, he worked at Wayside school as a Janitorial superintendent, whereas you would expect all the kids loved and adored him.
Dan met his late wife Sharon Kay Thornbrugh while out with friends, where he asked her for a dance. Soon after a relationship formed and they were united in matrimony on Aug. 5, 1988. Soon after they settled in Bartlesville where he resided for the next 37 years.
Dan never met a stranger. He had many friends and family all of whom loved his sense of humor. He was a genuine, loving husband and father but he loved enjoying being a grandfather the most.
Dan was a man of all trades but expert in one, carpentry. Dan loved spending his time fishing, camping, traveling and woodworking.
Dan is survived by his four children, Lisa Williamson, Brian Carr, Laura White, Bill (wife Denise) Gay and a niece, grandchildren/great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sharon Carr, his parents, his son Michael Carr, daughter Lisa Henderson and his sister Jacqueline Carr Hittle.
Memorial services for Dan will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory Walker-Brown Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com
