Timothy Kip Cannon

Timothy Kip Cannon
January 20, 1950 ~ August 24, 2025

Timothy Kip Cannon was born on January 20, 1950 in Shawnee, OK. He passed away at his home in Tecumseh on August 24, 2025 with his family by his side. Tim lived in Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1968. After graduation, he and the love of his life, Linda (Morelan) Cannon, moved to Flagstaff, Arizona so he could attend college.

He graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelors in Forestry. While there, their daughter Branda was born. He worked for the US Forest Service during the summers on a fire crew, while his wife and daughter lived on a look-out tower in the Coconino National Forest. In 1972 they moved to Starkville, MS where Tim worked on his Masters in Remote Sensing at Mississippi State University. His son, Owen Kip was born while they lived in Starkville. After receiving his degree, Tim spent 2 years working at Auburn University and worked in mapping. After his time at Auburn, he left the academic setting and moved to San Jose, CA. While there, he worked around the world and used his mapping skills to help under-developed countries better use their resources.

In 1979, Tim moved his family back home to Tecumseh to be closer to his and Linda’s parents. Once settled back at home, he started his own business. He worked as forester and provided consulting to many different entities and individuals. He was very proud of his business, CrossTimbers Forestry. His family worked alongside him and did many projects that took them over all parts of Oklahoma, as well as, a couple beautiful summers spent in Alaska.

He found the greatest joy in being with his family on his property. He enjoyed traveling with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Philip Owen Cannon and Julianna Connelly Cannon. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Linda Cannon, his daughter Branda (Rowdy) Gilpin, and his son Owen (Stefanie) Cannon. He had 5 grandchildren Timothy (Megan) Gilpin, Erika (Tommy) Smith, Nikolas Cannon, Brandan Cannon, and Juli (Derrick) Cannon. He had 4 great-grandchildren Kamron (Braliegh “that girl”) Gilpin, Jase Smith, Asher Gilpin, and Finnegan Gilpin.

Per Tim’s wishes no formal services will be held. Cremation arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
