Thomas Wolfe Buchanan Jr. II, "T.J.", 59, of Shawnee, Okla., passed away suddenly Monday, November 10, 2025. T.J. was born on June 2, 1966, in Drumright, Okla., the son of Thomas Wolfe Jr. and Delores Ann (Stokes) Buchanan. He graduated from Stroud High School in 1984.
T.J. loved music and was a drummer in high school. He received a scholarship to ECU but chose not to go because he was going to go on tour with his band.
T.J. married Judy Blansett and became a father to Scott, Jeremy and Michael Aston. While working at Kwikset he put his drumsticks away when the family thought he might get famous and leave them. T.J. worked as a delivery driver for Ferguson Plumbing Supply out of Tulsa delivering supplies around the state. In June of 2020, TJ and Alona Anderson reconnected their friendship. He fell in love and asked her for her hand in marriage. On June 4, 2021, T.J. and Alona were married in Tecumseh. They had a happy marriage full of love for each other and for Christ. T.J. picked up his drumsticks again and was part of the worship team for over four years at Tecumseh First Assembly. When his brother-in-law became pastor at Glad Tidings Church in Seminole, T.J. and Alona transferred their membership.
After moving to Shawnee, T.J. worked at Danfoss Manufacturing. He also worked for McLoud Public Schools as a maintenance and custodial man. He loved being around the kids. T.J. had a retirement plan to take his other great love, he was going to open up another Weenie Wagon, around the country seeing the sights, serving people and spreading the gospel.
Survivors include his wife, Alona, of the home; his parents, Thomas and Delores Buchanan; brother Charles Lee and wife Carol Smith, sons Jeremy Aston and wife Ruth and their children John Drake Aston and Jeremy Scott Aston, Emily Howe and Lindsey Dove; Michael Aston and wife Mindy and their children Tanner and Ty Aston; sister, Lisa Buchanan; mother-in-law, Pam Chambers; brother-in-law Jason Chambers and wife Meagan and their children Madison, Colton and Tatum; variety of family and friends and special friend and Christian mentor Bruce Knoch.
He is preceded in death by his sister Lisa Buchanan, Trey Eugene Smith, a son, Scott Aston, and his grandparents.
A celebration of life service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church with Pastor Jason Chambers officiating.
