JoVon "Vonnie" Marie Bruce, of Durant, passed away at Alliance Health Durant on December 7, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on February 27, 1956, in Kerrville, Texas, Vonnie's vibrant spirit and loving nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
Vonnie's commitment to her country was evident through her service in the United States Air Force. She continued her journey of compassion by becoming a caregiver in the healthcare industry. Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. She enjoyed the thrill of gambling, the pleasure of shopping, and found joy in the simple things in life like summer days at the lake and game nights with her kids and family. Above all, Vonnie loved all her family and especially her grandchildren. Each moment spent with them was cherished, and she took great pride in their every achievement.
Vonnie's heart was always with her family. She is survived by her husband, Bill Bruce of Durant, her father James Lewell Wagoner Sr. and stepmother Betty of Calera, Oklahoma, her children, Christopher Wagoner and wife Cindy of Dallas, Texas, and LeAnna Harding and husband Frank of Little Elm, Texas, and Jonathan Bruce. Vonnie's siblings, Karen Loerwald and husband Tom of Gainesville, Texas, James Wagoner, Jr and wife Kimberly of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, John Wagoner and wife Cheryl of Tuttle, Oklahoma, Kim and Teresa Nixon of New Castle, Oklahoma, John Mark Aplin and wife Jan of Cassville, Missouri and Sharon Reynolds and husband JR of Goose Creek, South Carolina will forever cherish the memories they shared. Her life partner, Charlsey Davis of Durant, will hold dear the bond and companionship they enjoyed. Her legacy lives on with her six grandchildren, Cassey Lynn Wagoner of Riverside, California, Demirree Wagoner of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Nikki Lyon of Little Elm, Texas, Jared Hale of McKinney, Texas, Tori Harding of Little Elm, Texas, Alli Harding of McKinney, Texas, Jaylon Paro, and Kierra Smith of Dallas, TX as well as her 6 great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Preceding her in death is her mother, JoAnn Croy (Andrews).
Friends and family will gather at her Family Hour on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. A celebration of Vonnie’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., in the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jesse West officiating.
