Charles Ray Bruce

Charles Ray Bruce
December 10, 1929 ~ October 3, 2022

Charles Bruce was born at Lunenburg, Arkansas on December 10, 1927 to the late Chester Bruce & Virgie (Tate) Bruce. He passed from this life at his residence on October 3rd at the age 92 years, 9 months, & 23 days. Charles was raised & educated in Drumright & was a 1948 graduate of Drumright High School.

He joined the United States Air Force in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1955. Shortly after joining the Air Force, he married Helen Irene VanCleave in Wyoming on January 1, 1951. They made their home in Mannford for many years and enjoyed boating on Lake Keystone. Charles had work as an electrical engineer for FlintCo until his retirement. They moved to Drumright in 1995 & attended the Drumright First United Methodist Church for many years. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family & his dachshund dogs. But his most cherished times were those that he spent on his farm outside of town.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Wife: Helen in 2020; Brothers: Tommy & Joe Bruce; Brother-In-Law: Harry Oberbeck; 2 Nephews: Tommy Lee Oberbeck & William Bruce Oberbeck.

His remaining family includes a Sister: Robbie Nell Oberbeck of Drumright; 2 Sisters-In-Law: Loretta Bruce of Oak Grove – Jerry Bruce of Edmond; Nieces & Nephews: Brenda & Robbie Dorsey of Oak Grove – Shane & Andrea Bruce of Oak Grove – Ronnie & Kin Bruce of Prue – Robin & Mark Stinchcomb of Colorado – Amy & Marty Anderson of Deer Creek; and numerous Great Nieces & Nephews and other relatives.
