Elwood Brown

August 7, 1946 ~ February 24, 2019

Elwood Brown, the son of George (Buck) and Devoe (Moten) Brown, was born August 7, 1946 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life peacefully February 24, 2019 at home in Stilwell, Oklahoma with his wife by his side. He left this world as he lived in it - by his own terms. He was 72 years, 6 months and 17 days old.

After retirement from Bell School, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, tinkering on things around the house, especially cars, as much as his health would allow. He enjoyed grilling, canning food from his garden and making jelly. Elwood touched many lives over the years. He would help anyone that he could. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Louella of the home; his children James Brown, George Brown and wife Dodie, Artie Brown and wife Kristina and Laura Vizueth and husband Alvaro all of Stilwell; his brother Bill Brown and wife Virginia and sister Retha Jean Fox and husband John of Stilwell; his step-children Linda Swake and husband John of Westville, Pat Pritchett of Stilwell, Rachel Soap of Westville, Michael Pritchett of Stilwell, Thomas Pritchett and wife Cholon of Stilwell, Jimmy Dale Soap and wife Sandra of Nicut and Chris Soap and wife Terri Dawn of Stilwell. He was the proud Grandpa of 39 grandchildren and 40 great- grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, uncles, friends and other relatives and his church family also survive him.

He was especially fond of his Uncle Roger with whom he spent many memorable days.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Piney Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Avery McGee officiating. Final arrangements were entrusted to Hart Funeral Home. Online condolences can be made at hartfuneralhome.net. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Piney Creek Baptist Church.
